"Prevention is better than cure" they say. "According to Iowa City and University of Iowa police, the number of public-intoxication arrests from 2010 to 2011 for underage drinkers increased 35 percent". The Iowa Program for Alcohol Compliance Training I-PACT is the first online training program to be implemented to the state of Iowa. Now all local bars in Iowa city force their employees to take the online training. Nowdays, minors using fake ID's and it's getting better and better with technology. This training helps local bars to stay out of problems with the law. It trains them how to not get tricked by those minors who break the law. I think this is a big step towords harm-reduction.
Do you think this program will help all states to reduce alcohol sales for minors? specially if it's free and doesn't take that long?

I think that training them to catch fake ID's would be a good idea if and only if it was free and not time consuming, and if it could teach them something they already do not know. There are books provided that describe all traits of real ID's of any state in the US and there are also scanning systems a bar could invest in to scan ID's. Those two methods would be much more efficient then going to a class.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it would help, but people are a lot smarter now days. They will always be one step a head as far as producing a fake ID. Even if they can't get into a bar, they can always get someone to purchase for them.
ReplyDeleteI think this training is an excellent idea and will help with reducing the use of fake id's. Now we tend to find ways around everything, so I definitely expect people to come up with other solutions. Honestly all states should have this implemented to help crack down on under age drinking.
