E-Training Safety Courses

This website offers a variety of courses based on what kind of safety needs are required at a workplace. They offer a variety of courses that range from simple refresher courses for already certified employees to courses that train based on unique situations in a workplace. Some of the courses offered include falling safety, small spaces safety, hazardous material safety and power tool safety. It makes is easier for employers to enroll groups of their employees for safety classes which saves them money and they are sure that they get the training they require for workplace safety.

The exams require a 70% to pass and students have 10 chances to pass without having to retake the course. Another benefit to these online training courses is that the person taking the test does not have to do the course in one sitting, making it easier for full time busy employees to be able to complete the course on their own time.

Have you ever taken a safety training course for your job?
Does it work? Was it more of a hassle than a physical course?

  1. I worked at a hospital for a couple years and each year we had these online modules we had to pass in order to meet our performance goals. With the hospital being such a large company it was a fairly organized and sure way to get employees to read through a powerpoint presentation and answer a few questions but I am not sure that they were actually effective in continuing to train employees. So in my opinion while they are convenient and probably the only option for large companies I am not sure they are very effective.

  2. I think this is a very good idea for offices and such to use. I work at Harris Teeter and we have to take a test every 6 months on alcohol and tobacco stuff and for lifting safety. They are decently effective but after taking them a couple times you do just memorize the answers. I agree that with big companies they are kind of pointless and easily forgettable.
